When it comes to stamp collecting, Oriental stamps are one of the most renowned forms of stamp to collect. The stamps are rich in collar, heritage and design, mimicking the country of China and the continent of Asia. Chinese stamp collecting is more an art than a business. The artworks, designs and time periods represented on the stamps are similar to a collection of history in a small package. When collecting stamps it is important to protect the stamps from the elements of weather and humidity.

The stamps available for collecting will range from very rare single stamps to lots of different stamp styles. The more rare the stamp the higher the value of this small piece of history. When choosing a stamp from China for collecting it is important to note the overall condition of the stamp and verify the age and authenticity of the stamp before paying the final purchase price. Some stamp sets will include entire sheets of the same stamp while others larger lots of differing stamps of the same style. The stamps sold as Chinese collectible stamps may have originated in a country other than China, but retain a postmark for the country of China.

You will notice as browsing through the Oriental collector stamps that some stamps are marked as postage while others are in uncirculated condition. Depending on the style and age of the stamp, the postage mark may not decrease the value, in fact, the value may be increased through the addition of a verifiable date to the stamp.
